McTiernan Announces Candidacy from Fredonia College
Chapter Chairs and Fellow College Republicans,I hope everyone is having a great and successful school year! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Erin McTiernan and I currently hold the position of State Treasurer of the New York College Republican State Committee. I went to Hofstra University for two years, where I was the club secretary for the Hofstra College Republicans. During the summer of 2004, I move to Albany where I worked on a U.S Senate race and then moved to Regional Affairs of Governor George Pataki’s office. I have volunteered countless hours at the New York Republican State Committee while living in Albany, and as a result have built a close working relationship with that office. This past fall, I joined a County Executive’s race in Chautauqua County, which was victorious. We not only ousted an eight-year Democrat incumbent County Executive, but we also secured the two countywide seats for the Republican Party: District Attorney and County Clerk. I have lived and attended college in three of the five regions of the New York: Southern, Eastern, and Western Regions and have met dedicated and energetic College Republicans within all chapters. This is a great start, but we need to do more.
Today, I write to you to announce my candidacy for Chairwoman of the New York State College Republicans. I see so much potential for this organization, but we have a lot of work to do. The College Republicans are going to be a driving force in the 2006 elections. The Republican Party is going to need our help in letting Hillary know her stay within New York is over and keeping Eliot Spitzer out of the Governor’s Office. We are not only going to be needed for these statewide elections, but also various local elections. When these campaigns call on us to help, we need to be ready; but first, we must strengthen our chapters around the state. I have come up with a detailed plan of how we can accomplish these goals, which will be sent out by the beginning of next week.
The success of the College Republicans depends on all of us. This is not a one-person mission: it is going to take the effort and dedication of every College Republican within the state. The New York College Republicans have been a divided organization for many years. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "A house divided will not stand." The New York College Republican State Committee has accomplished virtually nothing because of this long standing divide. I come to you as a solution to those problems. I have laid out a vision for this organization, a vision that will take us to new heights. I will move the NYCRSC beyond this divide by uniting the organization and standing by the principles that founded the College Republicans. As long as Hillary Clinton remains our U.S. Senator, we do not have time to play internal College Republican politics. We must, and will unite when I am elected!
In order to create a better relationship with each and every one of you, please let me know when your meetings are. This will open a line of communication, which will be key in the future as well as allow you and your members to ask any questions that you may have for me. In the next few weeks, I will be launching my campaign website (www.NewYorksFuture.com) with updated information as we grow closer to the convention. Also, in addition to my overall plan which will be on the website, I will be releasing regular press releases which can be found at Erin4NewYork.blogspot.com outlining specifics on my plan for New York, what I believe is wrong with this organization currently, and much more!
As President Bush says, in order to fight the War on Terror, “We’ll stay the course; we’ll complete the job.” This is the same approach that I will bring to the College Republicans as Chairwoman: we will stay the course and complete the job of rebuilding our organization, spreading our Republican philosophy on campuses, and ultimately succeeding in our common goal of getting Republicans elected at every level throughout New York State. Today I ask you for not only your support in my quest for Chairwoman, but for your help in making the New York College Republicans great again!

Sincerely,
Erin M. McTiernan Candidate for Chairwoman
