Victory for the Assembly in Western NY, McTiernan calls for a New Leadership Approach for the College Republicans in Western NY

McTiernan wants to congratulate Assemblyman Steve Hawley for his amazing victory tonight. The 139th District was recently vacated by Minority Leader Charlie Nesibitt, upon receiving an appointment from Governor George Pataki to the tax tribunal. Erin believes that the experience and passion that Assemblyman Hawley plans to bring to Albany will serve the residents of his district well. She looks forward to working with him in the future.

On another note, McTiernan expressed grave concern regarding the leadership approach of the College Republican Vice Chairman in the Western Region. Erin was most recently concerned about the fact that there were only two other College Republicans helping to ensure victory for Assemblyman Hawley on the most important day of the campaign trail, Election Day! Notifying the chapters within the regions of events that are taking place is one thing, but leading by example is another. Once elected Chairwoman, McTiernan has vowed that her administration will lead through example! She will require that not only shall the Vice Chairs notify chapters by email of events, but that they take the leadership initiative that they were elected to do and call the chapters and say for example, "Hey, this is really important that we help out. I'm going to be there and I was wondering if you would be able to join me?" It is hard for chapters to take the next step when their elected leaders in this organization are not encouraging them. The NYCRSC is elected (or let's at least pretend) for a reason, to be more than just event notification resource. We have websites, email addresses, and blogs for those communications. The NYCRSC was elected to lead the chapters of this organization, and when elected Chairwoman McTiernan is committed to require all members of the executive board to lead their chapters through example. No longer will the New York College Republicans remain a dormant organization. The most important reason the College Republicans were formed was to get Republicans elected, and it is very disappointing when this is not happening.

She wants to recognize the hard work of all the individual chapters in the Western Region, but remains disappointed in leadership style of the current Vice Chairman and encourages him and all NYCRSC board members to reconsider their leadership approach as we move toward Victory in November. We MUST prepare now!
