RESIGN OR DROP OUT OF RACE!
McTiernan moments ago demanded in a letter to her lone opponent to either resign as Credentials Committee Chairman (a position in which he was not elected to) or immediately drop out of the race for New York College Republican Chairman.
Many New York College Republicans share in McTiernan's concern not only because of the conflict of interest in controlling what colleges can be credentialed, but also because of the corrupt credentials process of the past.
At the 2005 New York College Republican Convention, Eastern Vice Chairman Patrick J. Julianio brought to the attention of the delegates that there had not been an election for the position of Credentials Chairman in accordance with the NYCRSC constitution. Vice Chairman Julianio was told "Not to worry about that." Soon after, Chairman Backus appointed his best friend at LeMoyne College (his college) to the position of Credentials Chair. He would later hand pick Robert again to run to fill his shoes. Recently, when former chairman Backus was asked if he would have Robert step down as Credentials Chair, he responded, "Rob is a bigger guy than that!" It is obvious with Robert's recent statement to the truthcaucus:
"Weitzman says his 'hard-count' is much larger than McTiernan’s. A Weitzman supporter says that 'hard-counts' are all that matter. "
Of course Robert would say that his "hard-counts" are going to be larger than McTiernan's when he is controlling who is allowed to credential and who can not credential solely on the basis of support.
Mr. Robert Weitzman,
In order to ensure an honest and fair election, I feel it is only right if you resign the position of Credentials Chairman. It is a complete conflict of interest that you will decide which schools may or may not vote in your own election for Chair. As Chairman of the Credentials Committee, you are aware of the fact that 4 out of 7 seats of your committee are vacant. You have neglected to act on this fact for several months now.
It is time to put this organization back on the right track, leaving the corruption that has plagued the New York College Republican State Committee behind. The first step in moving in the right direction for you is to step down as Credentials Chair. I and many other chapter chairs have serious concerns on the legality of this election if you remain Credentials Chairman during the 2006 election.
I hope you give this request serious thought. The unification of the College Republicans within New York State depends on the credibility and honesty of all candidates during the 2006 election.

Therefore, it is only ethical that you decide immediately if you will remain Credentials Chairman or if you will remain a candidate for NYCRSC Chair.
Sincerely,Erin McTiernan
Candidate for Chair
