McTiernan Attends Monroe County Ball

Erin will be spending the evening at the Monroe County Executive's Ball at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center with the New York Republican State Committee. This will be her second year in attendance. The Monroe County Executive's Ball is just one of three County Executive Balls that Erin has been personally invited to attend during the Spring Semester.

She plans to stop in to do some quick volunteer work for the Special Election in Batavia on Sunday.

McTiernan Organizes Phone Bank for Special Election

Saturday, February 18, 2006--Erin McTiernan organizes the most successful phone bank effort for the special election that Governor George Pataki called for in New York's 139th Assembly District, the seat recently vacated by Assembly Minority Leader Charles H. Nesbitt . She brought College Republicans together from across the state including the University at Albany, SUNY-Brockport, and SUNY-Fredonia. The nearly dozen volunteers were able to attempt over 1,800 phone calls reminding Republican voters of the special election.

The special election is to be held Tuesday, February 28. Erin encourages anyone that might be able to help volunteer to either contact her or Assembly's Coordinator James Gentile at (607) 382-2312.

McTiernan Announces Candidacy from Fredonia College

Chapter Chairs and Fellow College Republicans,

I hope everyone is having a great and successful school year! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Erin McTiernan and I currently hold the position of State Treasurer of the New York College Republican State Committee. I went to Hofstra University for two years, where I was the club secretary for the Hofstra College Republicans. During the summer of 2004, I move to Albany where I worked on a U.S Senate race and then moved to Regional Affairs of Governor George Pataki’s office. I have volunteered countless hours at the New York Republican State Committee while living in Albany, and as a result have built a close working relationship with that office. This past fall, I joined a County Executive’s race in Chautauqua County, which was victorious. We not only ousted an eight-year Democrat incumbent County Executive, but we also secured the two countywide seats for the Republican Party: District Attorney and County Clerk. I have lived and attended college in three of the five regions of the New York: Southern, Eastern, and Western Regions and have met dedicated and energetic College Republicans within all chapters. This is a great start, but we need to do more.

Today, I write to you to announce my candidacy for Chairwoman of the New York State College Republicans. I see so much potential for this organization, but we have a lot of work to do. The College Republicans are going to be a driving force in the 2006 elections. The Republican Party is going to need our help in letting Hillary know her stay within New York is over and keeping Eliot Spitzer out of the Governor’s Office. We are not only going to be needed for these statewide elections, but also various local elections. When these campaigns call on us to help, we need to be ready; but first, we must strengthen our chapters around the state. I have come up with a detailed plan of how we can accomplish these goals, which will be sent out by the beginning of next week.

The success of the College Republicans depends on all of us. This is not a one-person mission: it is going to take the effort and dedication of every College Republican within the state. The New York College Republicans have been a divided organization for many years. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "A house divided will not stand." The New York College Republican State Committee has accomplished virtually nothing because of this long standing divide. I come to you as a solution to those problems. I have laid out a vision for this organization, a vision that will take us to new heights. I will move the NYCRSC beyond this divide by uniting the organization and standing by the principles that founded the College Republicans. As long as Hillary Clinton remains our U.S. Senator, we do not have time to play internal College Republican politics. We must, and will unite when I am elected!

In order to create a better relationship with each and every one of you, please let me know when your meetings are. This will open a line of communication, which will be key in the future as well as allow you and your members to ask any questions that you may have for me. In the next few weeks, I will be launching my campaign website (www.NewYorksFuture.com) with updated information as we grow closer to the convention. Also, in addition to my overall plan which will be on the website, I will be releasing regular press releases which can be found at Erin4NewYork.blogspot.com outlining specifics on my plan for New York, what I believe is wrong with this organization currently, and much more!

As President Bush says, in order to fight the War on Terror, “We’ll stay the course; we’ll complete the job.” This is the same approach that I will bring to the College Republicans as Chairwoman: we will stay the course and complete the job of rebuilding our organization, spreading our Republican philosophy on campuses, and ultimately succeeding in our common goal of getting Republicans elected at every level throughout New York State. Today I ask you for not only your support in my quest for Chairwoman, but for your help in making the New York College Republicans great again!

If you have any questions feel free to contact me at (516) 640-0949, or emctiernan@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Erin M. McTiernan Candidate for Chairwoman

TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW
New Yorkers are clicking “refresh” at “Erin 4 New York” (I hate word/number combinations) to see if Erin McTiernan is going to announce her campaign for New York CR state chairman online (as opposed to CPAC).

TO WIT – WOKE UP THIS MORNING

…A reader in New York wrote of the New York CR state chairman’s race saying, “New York is sick of a gentlemen’s club running the NYCRSC. If the College Republicans are going to have any effect on helping defeat Hillary Clinton, we could really benefit from an outgoing well connect female Chair.”

It just so happens there is a woman, Erin McTiernan, running for NY CR state chair (coincidence, I think not).

There are two other candidates running for the office, Ken Girardin and Rob Weitzman. The running conspiracy of the day is that Weitzman, who’s supported by sitting state chairman Mike Backus, is quietly being supported by Paul Gourley. (Also known as the “kiss of death” in New York.)
